On Thursday, Netie-Gluton-Flour flew up to Moorhead to take care of a few things with her Mom. Fortunately, I have Grandpa and Grandma here to take care of the kids while I am at work, but this leaves me with the kids the whole weekend long (also luckily, this was my Friday off). I decided to take the opportunity to spend some time with the kids. I took a few pictures along the way. Here they are...

On Friday, after meeting Grandpa and Grandma at El Pollo Loco for lunch, I drove the kids up to South Mountain Park for a hike. It's a pretty area, and the kids really ate up the trail. We made good distance fast.

Until this. About a mile out, Roo's sandle straps snapped (you shouldn't hike in the desert in dress sandles). I had little choice but to give Roo my boots and socks (see them on her feet?). This meant, you guessed it, that I had to hike a mile through the desert in bare feet!

More prettiness.

At least the kids had fun.

They did a lot of climbing while they waited for me (I was walking slowly).

Nice view of the smog (and the city).

On Saturday, I decided to take the kids on the light rail, to see a few things.

ME!

Button on the train.

Our first stop. This is the Pueblo Grand Museum. I thought it would be interesting to bring the kids here to see this ancient Hohokam ruin.

The "mound" is pretty big.

Here we are walking through some of the walls on top of the mound.

A sign showing when things were built. This stuff really is old!

We got off the train on Central to eat at Schlotsky's. Meg loved the food too much that she ate way too much of it. How do I know this? Because she complained of a tummy-ache for much the rest of the afternoon. Also, Meg consumed much caffine, so she complained very quickly, and was pretty much a hyper-Meg all afternoon.

I call this photo "Fountain and Gargoyles".

This one is called kiddy-star.

Meg wanted a picture next to the barbor pole.
