Time for a ranch trip. It was way too long since I had been up there last. Actually, this trip was all about water. Over the fourth of July trip, my family went through almost 400 gallons of water, leaving the tank bone dry! I couldn't very well haul the whole family up there without any water available, so instead I hauled up Mudge. She and I don't use too much water, I guess. We managed to do more than just fuss about with the water, so I have some pictures. Here they are, in all their glory!

On Friday, Mudge and I decided to go for a hike. Mudgy decided to go to a part of Carrizo wash where we have not been before. I parked the car just off one of the roads, and we started our hike. Meanwhile, a neighbor of mine drove by, saw the car, and thought I must be in trouble (why else would my car be "stalled" right there?). I guess that's why I got that concerned voice mail on my cell phone... Anyway, this is somewhere in the mighty Carrizo wash.

So is this. Big cliff, huh? See Mudge way up there?

If there is a cliff, it must be climbed.

This odd picture is of a skull, half way down the cliff. I figure that a cow must have dies and decomposed up top, then the bones washed down here (there were other bones at the foot of the cliff).

Geneva wanted to climb out of the wash, and have a look at the skull from above, so we did. Here it is.

This is a Mudge...

Ants. The reason that I took this picture is that this is the very spot were my dear wife was spraying "Raid" the last time we were up here. As you can see, it was very effective.

This time (as opposed to the last trip), Mudgy actually remembered to bring her gun. She is a really good shot with it too!

We decided to go on an explore on Saturday, to a place we've never before been. The place is called "Upper Carrizo Well", and it was quite a find. There are several old buildings there, lots of corrals, and an old windmill. This and the next shot were taken inside the cabin.

The outside of the "cabin". Want to move in?

This is what I figure must be the stable.

And I think that this used to be the tack shed.

Here's the old windmill.

At the base of the windmill sat this really old refriderator (?). I have no idea...

HEY! Who's that climbing up that windmill?

This is Mudge climbing the windmill.

Mudge in a hole!

Some of the corrals.

This and the next shot are from our final night's walk (both nights, we had evening walks). Neat fort, huh?

I think you can see our quonset in the background.
