This dead pidgeon was a gift from Sissy Jupe (she still had a feather in her mouth). Our dogs are so kind and thoughtful.

This clever chunk of art was drawn on our blackboard door by one of our children (I know not which).

Finally, after a long and endless winter, we had the season opener up at the ranch. As is our tradition, we went up with Pa & Ma, and after the trip they took off for Minnesota. This is a picture of the Carrizo sand box. This large wash is literally nothing but fine sand. It is on the way to a flowing well (see below) to which we hiked.

Button in the sand.

In Arizona, kids don't often get to make snow angels, but they can make sand angels. Here are a few...

Here we are at the flowing well. This well is about four miles (give or take) East of our place.

When the flowing well is flowing (which happens when the ranchers turn on the pump), the water runs out onto the ground and make a big swamp. The swamp is all dry in this picture, but when the swamp is wet, the cows were always tromping around in it. This resulted in big cow hoof sized holes all over the ground. Here are a few kids stuggling to get across this bumpy mess.

We like to shoot while we are at the ranch. The next several shots (hee-hee) are shootin-shots.

HOT DOG!

Mudge likes grapes.

Supper around the campfire. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Dawg.

Jacob got stuck in a hole.

Megan, not wanting to be left out, also sat down in the hole, so that she could get stuck too. Right after this picture was taken, Jacob began to kick dirt down onto her head (and down her sirt, too). This gave Mom the idea that everybody's hair needed washing. See next pics.

The water used to wash the hair here is stored in my 625 gallon tank, up the hill. Since it was getting down to around 25 degrees every night, and only into the mid-60s during the day, the water coming out of that hose has to be about 45 degrees. This makes for a cold head.

Megan was complaining about having a cold head.

Geneva was also complaining about a cold head.

Jacob was literally screaming about having a cold head.

This is a coffee pot. Not sure why I have a picture of this.

Sitting by the fire in our newly insulated and heated quonset.

On Pa & Ma's last day, we drove into New Mexico and stopped by El Morro National Monument. This is the pool of water that caused everybody to come here in the first place (and subsequently carve all over the sandstone cliffs, which is now the whole point of El Morro).

All of us in front of the pool.

This is taken right in from of the oldest and most famous inscription at El Morro. It was carved into the sandstone around 1605, and pre-dates the pilgims landing at Plymouth Rock.

SNOW!

MORE SNOW (yes, there was a snoball fight - albeit a small one).

Silly dawg!

Sillier dawg.

Meg and Jacob putting up a target for Mom (and, if I remember correctly, bickering about it).

Nettie's good shootin'.

The inside of our newly insulated and heated quonset (Thanks to Pa for help with the insulation).

The dogs treed this cat. Good dogs! Very good dogs! Too bad the cat survived!

Dumb Jupe got herself stuck under my shed. This is what had to happen to get her free. Dumb dog.

This is what happens when Nettie and the kids lock themselves in the back yard.

Baby Stupid.

This is a science experiment involving rose petals. See the microscope below.

Puke, lovely Puke! Nettie took this picture when we thought that we were going to finally lay Puke to rest. However, I managed to resurrect Puke for a little while longer.

This and the next picture are my attempts to resurrect Puke. Needed to completely re-wire the rear lights.

Tagging (grafitti) on the rear door of Puke.

Lots of pictures of kids artwork follow. Way too exciting for most, I'm sure...

Nettie Bread!

This month was our 15th anniversary. I bought this for my Sweetie (best sweetie ever!).

Family picture right before we went our to Ariba's to celebrate.

Pictures at Ariba's, celebrating the big day!

Birds at Ariba's.

But of a bird at Ariba's.

Mudge at Ariba's.

Messing with Button. I love to mess with the boy!

Sideways Mudge.

Sideways Roo.

Sideways Mooms.

Making boats out of tin foil.

Momos had to do something different.

A floatilla of tin foil boats (the high seas will never be the same).

A poem, by me.

A mess, by my kids.

Mooms and I having a pout contest.

This and the next several pictures are of a science experiment that we had demonstrating pH. This is a picture my wife took of my little pH scale drawing.

We used pH test strips to test several different substances, and recorded our results.

Some of the things we tested.

Watch it fizz!

Battery acid and lye. What a combination!

RANCH TRIP!
Mooms, Button, and I went up North for a ranch trip. We had LOTS of fun. We ate oatmeal with REAL maple syrup (a ranch tradition), as well as fresh eggs from Ron. We ate hot dogs and spaggehti-os too. We went for lots of hikes and shot lots of pop cans. We saw the neighbors and founf a large chunk of petrified wood (and brought that home). Mooms shot General Sherman, and she skidded backwards (as usual). She's getting to be a pretty good shot, that Mooms. And this picture? This is a picture in "the canyon" near our place (actually, it is a part of lot 179).

Button is a crack (on what we call "Petroglyph Mountain").

The view from on top of "Petroglyph Mountain".

This is a very pretty sight indeed. Every time we go up to the ranch, we spend much time admiring this great beauty.

Our very own daughter tagged the inside of the little shed by "Petroglyph Mountain". As I write this, she undergoes punishment for the same.

Mooms, in her dream home.

This is Raindrop, the Namkung's horse.

The neighbor's dog, Otis, followed us home (oops).

Jacob, crawling through a culvert.

The little red cabin by our place is for sale. We invited ourselves in, and gave ourselves a tour. These pictures are from inside the cabin.

Sunset at the ranch (this picture is a really sad copy of the real thing).

Jacob and Brandon roasting hot dogs 'round the campfire.

Reading by lamplight. Kinda reminds you of "Little House on the Prairie", doesn't it?

I cleaned up the shelf, and took this picture to show Nettie our great work.
