On the very first weekend in April, we drove with Grandpa and Grandma up to the ranch for a camping trip (after this trip, Grandpa and Grandma continued North to Minnesota, while we returned to Phoenix). This picture was taken Friday afternoon, around our first campfire.

Cooking hot dogs (I love hot dogs). Nice cooking grate, huh? My ranch-neighbor (Jason) gave that to us.

Must have been a good campfire, since I took so many pictures.

Saturday, we took a hike down a canyon near the big "SJ" (for Saint Johns). We found this ruin half way down.

Here we are on top of the mesa from which the canyon drops. Nice view, huh?

Pa finally gets to try out the gun. He did not hit the coke can!

Ma also did not hit the coke can (and she yelped a bit after the first shot).

Oh look! Another picture of the ramshackle cabin near our property. I seem to have a lot of pictures of this.

I think that our girls are creative. They decided that they wanted a teeter-totter.

After the ranch trip, we drove through the petrified forest (and the painted desert). This would be a big, petrified log.

Oh looky, another big petrified log.

You know, it really is amazing how many petrified logs are in the petrified forest.

Lots and lots of Heidmanns by a petrified log.

This would be a petrified log.

I like this. It is called "agate bridge". The petrified log forms a really nice bridge here.

It is difficult to see in this photo, but this is right next to an old indian ruin.

This is the painted desert (and a few of my kids in the distance). The photo doesn't really do justice to the colors.

More painted desert. If you ever get a chance, this is worth the trip!

Raymond (who is still living with us), has Button Boy like a sack of taters.

The new mutt. The kids found this mangy thing on the street and they think that we are going to keep it (hence the picture). Dumb dog. We are not going to keep this mutt!

Another picture of the dog that will soon be gone.

One last picture, and this has to be the last one.

Mooms and Katrina (also living with us).

This would be a stump. Today, I cut down a few trees in the back yard. One of them was this former lemon tree. I am glad that this tree is finally gone.

Easter is the best day of the year! Every year, Pa & Ma Heidmann buy the grandkids an easter basket. Here is Mudgy with hers.

And Mooms with hers...

And Jacob with his (note: the picture of Roo with hers did not turn out).

The last weekend in April, we took a trip up to the ranch (and boy did we need it). This is a new area near Purcell well. This picture was taken in Carrizo wash (from which the ranch derives its name). Soon, these trees will all be green (they were buddig when I took this picture).

An old windmill at Purcell well.

We found a lizzard, who was not at all happy to be found. Here is Mudgy petting the cute lizzard.

And here is Jacob torturing the cute, precious lizzard.

And finally, here is Roo asking if we can keep the cute, precious, darling, little lizzard.

A corrall at Purcell well.

I found this old tree at the corner of my property. It was pushed over a couple of years ago to make the road. I used Puke and my chain to drag the whole thing back to the firepit.
